Aqara Smart Lock Installation in London
Updated
Aqara now makes a smart lock for British multipoint doors, the U600, alongside the U200 retrofits that sit over a cylinder and a rim lock for timber doors. A vetted JACK locksmith in London works out which one your door can take, then fits and sets it up with you.
In short
Yes: a vetted JACK pro in London fits Aqara's Smart Lock U600 on lift-to-lock multipoint doors, the U200 and U200 Lite over a cylinder with an emergency function, and the Smart Rim Lock U500 where a timber door suits it, as a locksmith job. The pro checks your handle action, centres, backset, door thickness and cylinder first, never fits a U600 or U500 on a flat's entrance fire door, and fits a U200 there only with the Responsible Person's agreement. The fixed price shows in the JACK app before you book.
Send the lock model, or say you have not bought one yet, with photos of the door from both sides, its edge showing the lock faceplate, and the cylinder close up. Say whether you own, rent or lease.

Aqara smart locks pros install
Each guide covers how the model is powered and mounted, what the pro does and what to send before booking.
Smart Lock U600 installation
Aqara's handle-set smart lock for UK multipoint doors: it replaces both handles and the cylinder and keeps the lock body in the door.
Smart Lock U200 installation
Aqara's inside retrofit for euro, UK oval and select Scandi cylinders, with an outside keypad; the U200 Lite is the version without one.
Smart Rim Lock U500 installation
Aqara's through-the-door smart rim lock, measured against your nightlatch before you buy, and fitted only where the door suits it.
Which Aqara locks are sold for UK and European doors?
Through Aqara's UK channels on 1 November 2026:
- Smart Lock U600 (EL-D11E): 'built to fit standard UK multipoint doors', new on Aqara's UK store in October 2026; it replaces both handle sets and the cylinder, keeping the multipoint lock body
- Smart Lock U200 (EL-D02) and U200 Lite (EL-D03): a motor unit inside the door that turns your existing key or thumbturn; the U200 adds an outside keypad, the Lite has none
- Smart Rim Lock U500 (DL-D19D): a surface-mounted rim lock with its own fixed cylinder, sold alongside a Gate Lock U500 and a glass-door version
- Not UK models: the U400, U300, U100 and U50, which the Aqara UK Shop does not carry
What does the locksmith measure and test on your door?
These decide which Aqara lock fits, so they are read from your photos and checked again on the day:
- The handle action: Aqara says the U600 cannot work a deadbolt that lifting the handle does not engage
- Handle centres, spindle to cylinder: the U600 takes 72–92 mm, so the common 92 mm fits, while Fullex (68 mm), Ferco (70 mm) and Millenco (95 mm) handles, going by UK handle retailers' sizes, fall outside it
- The cylinder, for a U200: it needs Aqara's emergency function, an inside key no more than 5 mm thick with a head no longer than 39 mm, and screw fixing if it stands 3 mm or more proud, adhesive if less
- How smoothly the door locks today: Aqara's UK shop says a smart lock cannot fix mechanical issues, so a stiff gearbox is adjusted first
Will an Aqara lock affect your home insurance?
It can, because policies often name the lock expected on a final exit door. What Aqara's paperwork shows:
- The U600 page shows four badges: CE, REACH, RoHS and EN 16867, the European standard for electronic door furniture, which grades durability, environment and attack resistance; Aqara does not publish the U600's grade
- None of those is TS 007, BS 3621, Sold Secure or PAS 24, the standards UK lock clauses tend to name, and Aqara says to check with your insurer because fitting the U600 removes the existing cylinder
- The U500 Rim makes no BS 3621 claim, so on a timber door the BS 3621 mortice deadlock stays in use
- The U200 family keeps your key-operated cylinder, so the hardware a policy names is unchanged unless that cylinder has to be replaced
Before a U600 goes on a final exit door, JACK asks you to confirm with your insurer, in writing if you can, and the pro hands back your old handles and cylinder.
UK front doors, lock standards and insurers explainedCan an Aqara lock go on a flat's front door?
A flat entrance door onto a shared corridor is normally an FD30S fire door, which the British Woodworking Federation's Fire Door Alliance says is tested as a complete assembly with its ironmongery, and GOV.UK guidance says changes should have the Responsible Person's knowledge and agreement. JACK's rules there:
- No U600 and no U500 Rim: one replaces the door's handles and cylinder, the other needs a Ø50 mm hole, and BSI's summary of EN 16867 says fire-door use needs separate fire testing
- A U200 or U200 Lite only where the existing fire-rated cylinder already has the emergency function, the door still self-closes and latches, and the Responsible Person, usually the managing agent, has agreed in writing
- No keypad cable drilled through the door or its frame
- In a shared house, Wandsworth's HMO fire-safety advice wants exit doors openable from inside without a removable key, so a key-only inside cylinder is not fitted there

How is Aqara installation priced in London?
A vetted pro prices your Aqara job from the models and your photos, and the JACK app shows that fixed price before you book.
What the job touches moves the price more than the device does. Pairing a hub, fixing sensors, clipping a Curtain Driver E1 onto a rail or fitting radiator thermostat heads is set-up work. A smart lock is locksmith work on the door. An H1 or H2 switch, a Dual Relay Module T2 or a 230 V blind motor is mains work on an existing circuit, priced for isolating, connecting and testing.
The home comes next: a multipoint door that needs adjusting before a lock goes on, a bell transformer too weak for the doorbell, a PoE cable through solid brick. Where a job needs a second pair of hands, your pro can ask another pro on JACK to help through the Pro2Pro feature. Several devices, Aqara or other brands, go on one booking for one fixed price.
You buy the Aqara products; JACK does not sell them. Accessories the job needs, such as a replacement cylinder, a deeper back box, a 12 V plug-in supply or a PoE injector, are agreed and added at cost before you book, and so is parking where it has to be paid for. Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, hourly hire is typically £45–£95 per hour for smart home work, £55–£110 for electrical work and £60–£130 for locksmith work, and a full-day handyman booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
How it works
Step 1
Name the models and add photos
List the Aqara products you have, or paste the order, and photograph where each goes: the door edge and cylinder for a lock, the transformer label for a doorbell, the switch and consumer unit for a switch, and your router for a hub.
Step 2
See a fixed price, then choose a time
A vetted pro works out one fixed price for the whole list, with any accessory agreed at cost. Nothing is booked until you accept it, and you pick the day.
Step 3
Fitted, paired and tested
Each device fixed, connected and joined to your hub and apps, then tried with you: the lock opened by key and phone, the doorbell rung, the switch's automations run.
Frequently asked questions
Will an Aqara smart lock fit my uPVC door?
Often, if it is a lift-to-lock multipoint within Aqara's limits. Slam-shut multipoints are not covered by the U600 manual, and Aqara rules out self-locking doors for the U200, so those are checked on site.
Do I still have to lift the handle with an Aqara lock?
Yes, on a lift-to-lock multipoint. The Aqara UK Shop says many British multipoint locks need the handle lifted first, and Aqara's U200 guidance has you lift it while the lock calibrates.
Do smart locks void home insurance?
Not automatically, but any lock your policy names must stay in use. A sample UK wording accepts a key-operated multipoint with three or more locking points and a five-pin cylinder, and limits theft cover if required locks go unused, so read your own clause before a U600 replaces the cylinder.
Can you supply a new cylinder for the U200?
JACK does not sell locks, but a cylinder the door needs is agreed at cost before you book. The pro looks for a TS 007 three-star cylinder whose maker states an emergency function; Aqara's own adjustable cylinder lists no anti-snap rating.
How much does Aqara smart lock installation cost in London?
It is a fixed price for your door and lock, shown in the JACK app before you book. As a guide, locksmith work hired by the hour is typically £60–£130 per hour.
