Aqara Radiator Thermostat, Floor Heating and Water Valve Installation in London
Updated
Aqara's heating and water devices work on the radiator, the underfloor heating thermostat or the water valve, never on the boiler. A vetted JACK pro in London matches each radiator to the right adapter, swaps an electric underfloor heating thermostat where the rules allow, and sets up automatic water shut-off with leak sensors.
In short
Yes: a vetted JACK pro in London fits Aqara's Radiator Thermostat W600 on radiators fitted with thermostatic valves, and the Valve Controller T1 on an existing lever or butterfly-handle water valve, neither of which opens the heating system or touches the boiler. The Floor Heating Thermostat W500 replaces an existing electric underfloor heating thermostat outside bathroom zones, which is mains work. Aqara sells no boiler thermostat for British homes, and JACK sends any wiring at the boiler to a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Send a close-up of each radiator valve with its old head on, the number of radiators and the Aqara models you have. For the W500, add the existing thermostat and where it sits; for the Valve Controller T1, the valve and its handle.

Aqara heating and water pros install
Each guide covers how the model is powered and mounted, what the pro does and what to send before booking.
Will the Radiator Thermostat W600 fit your valves?
Aqara says it is compatible with the majority of radiator valves. It is a head for a thermostatic valve, so each radiator needs one already:
- It screws straight onto M30 x 1.5 valve bodies, and six adapters in the box cover RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini and M28 x 1.5 valves
- Two AA batteries last up to two heating seasons, on Aqara's estimate
- In Thread mode it joins Matter apps; schedules, frost protection, an external sensor and the W100 link need Zigbee mode in the Aqara Home app, with an Aqara hub
- Open-window detection needs a door and window sensor on that window
The older Radiator Thermostat E1 takes M30 x 1.5 valves plus RA, RAV and RAVL adapters and needs an Aqara Zigbee 3.0 hub. Aqara has marked it end of life on its UK compliance page, and says it suits thermostatic valves only, not manual valves, return-temperature limiters or single-pipe systems.
Aqara Radiator Thermostat W600 installationA radiator head swap is not plumbing; a valve change is
Where the work stops decides who does it:
- A smart head screwed onto a thermostatic valve that is already there leaves the water sealed in, and involves neither gas work nor electrical installation work
- A radiator with a plain manual valve needs a thermostatic valve body first, which usually means draining down and refilling the system; the HSE allows that wet work without Gas Safe registration, but it is plumbing and booked separately
- A valve that no adapter in the box fits needs a third-party adapter or a new valve body
- A valve that leaks, is seized or is corroded is flagged from your photos rather than forced
The W500 is a mains thermostat swap, kept outside bathroom zones
The W500 replaces the wall thermostat of an electric underfloor heating system. Aqara rates it at 220–250 V and up to 16 A, or 3,600 W of resistive load, with an NTC floor probe in the box:
- Swapping an existing thermostat on the same circuit is a replacement and not notifiable, once the pro has checked that the circuit, fuse and RCD suit the heating load
- Aqara gives 86 x 86 x 45 mm as its overall size but no depth inside the wall, so the back box is checked from your photos
- JACK books no fixed electrical work inside bathroom zones, so for a bathroom or en-suite floor, show where the thermostat sits in relation to the bath or shower
- A brand-new 16 A circuit for the heating is for a registered electrician; JACK does not book it
- The battery-powered W100 Climate Sensor, a temperature and humidity display, can control the W500 or W600 in Zigbee mode
Ask your pro for a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate when the W500 is wired in.
Aqara sells no boiler thermostat for UK homes
Aqara's Thermostat Hub W200 is a US product for 24 V heating and cooling systems, with professional installation offered across the US mainland. For a British boiler:
- Aqara's UK shop suggests the Dual Relay Module T2 can control a boiler that accepts dry contacts, but that connection is made at the boiler
- Gas Safe Register's guidance says a boiler case held on by several screws is normally part of the sealed combustion system and should only be opened by a Gas Safe engineer; as its own rule, JACK sends any wiring at the boiler itself to a Gas Safe registered engineer
- Replacing an old programmer or room thermostat at the wall is not gas work under the HSE's code of practice, and heating controls built for UK boilers, such as Hive or tado°, do that job; JACK pros fit both
The Valve Controller T1 goes on water valves, never gas
It turns an existing valve's handle with a motor, so no pipe is cut:
- Aqara lists it for lever or butterfly-handle valves on DN15, DN20 and DN25 pipes, on four AA batteries lasting up to 2 years, with a compatible Aqara Zigbee hub
- Paired with Aqara water leak sensors, such as the Water Leak Sensor T1, which its Amazon UK listing suggests placing under sinks and near boilers, it can close the valve automatically
- Aqara's UK shop markets it for water and gas valves; JACK fits it on water valves only and never on a gas valve, whatever the listing says
- The handle has to be a lever or butterfly type, so send a photo of the valve itself

How is Aqara installation priced in London?
A vetted pro prices your Aqara job from the models and your photos, and the JACK app shows that fixed price before you book.
What the job touches moves the price more than the device does. Pairing a hub, fixing sensors, clipping a Curtain Driver E1 onto a rail or fitting radiator thermostat heads is set-up work. A smart lock is locksmith work on the door. An H1 or H2 switch, a Dual Relay Module T2 or a 230 V blind motor is mains work on an existing circuit, priced for isolating, connecting and testing.
The home comes next: a multipoint door that needs adjusting before a lock goes on, a bell transformer too weak for the doorbell, a PoE cable through solid brick. Where a job needs a second pair of hands, your pro can ask another pro on JACK to help through the Pro2Pro feature. Several devices, Aqara or other brands, go on one booking for one fixed price.
You buy the Aqara products; JACK does not sell them. Accessories the job needs, such as a replacement cylinder, a deeper back box, a 12 V plug-in supply or a PoE injector, are agreed and added at cost before you book, and so is parking where it has to be paid for. Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, hourly hire is typically £45–£95 per hour for smart home work, £55–£110 for electrical work and £60–£130 for locksmith work, and a full-day handyman booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
How it works
Step 1
Name the models and add photos
List the Aqara products you have, or paste the order, and photograph where each goes: the door edge and cylinder for a lock, the transformer label for a doorbell, the switch and consumer unit for a switch, and your router for a hub.
Step 2
See a fixed price, then choose a time
A vetted pro works out one fixed price for the whole list, with any accessory agreed at cost. Nothing is booked until you accept it, and you pick the day.
Step 3
Fitted, paired and tested
Each device fixed, connected and joined to your hub and apps, then tried with you: the lock opened by key and phone, the doorbell rung, the switch's automations run.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a plumber to fit Aqara radiator thermostats?
No, if every radiator has a thermostatic valve already. The pro takes off the old head and fits the W600 with the matching adapter, and nothing is drained. A radiator with a plain on/off valve needs a new thermostatic valve body first, which is plumbing work booked separately.
Is there an Aqara smart thermostat for UK boilers?
Not through Aqara's UK channels, as checked on 1 November 2026. Aqara's Thermostat Hub W200 is sold for US heating and cooling systems, and its radiator thermostats only open and close their own valves. To switch a British boiler on and off, a system designed around British boilers, such as Hive or tado°, is the usual choice.
Can the Aqara Valve Controller T1 shut off my gas?
Not with JACK. Aqara's UK shop describes it for water and gas valves, but JACK fits it on water valves only. For water, pairing it with leak sensors lets it close the valve on its own when a leak is detected.
Can you fit an Aqara W500 in a bathroom?
Not inside the bathroom zones, the space within 0.6 m of a bath or shower tray from the floor to 2.25 m, or to a higher shower head, where JACK books no fixed electrical work. Outside them, replacing the old underfloor heating thermostat like for like on its existing circuit is work a JACK pro who does electrical work can take on.
How much does Aqara heating installation cost in London?
The JACK app shows one fixed price for every radiator head and device before you book, based on your photos, and a whole home of radiators goes on one booking. Adapters beyond those in the box are added at cost and agreed first. Hourly smart home hire is typically £45–£95 per hour, as a guide.
