Can You Fit a eufy Smart Lock on a UK Door?
Updated
eufy makes smart locks, but not for the UK: its UK store sells none, and eufy's one set of door requirements for its locks describes North American door preparation. This guide explains the mismatch with London front doors, what insurers tend to expect, and what a JACK locksmith fits instead.
In short
Usually not. eufy's UK store sells no smart locks, and eufy's locks need US deadbolt door preparation (a 35–55 mm door, a 60 or 70 mm backset and a 38–54 mm cross-bore) that UK uPVC and composite doors with euro-cylinder multipoint locks do not have. A JACK pro in London fits a smart lock made for UK doors, or a retrofit that keeps your existing cylinder, booked as a locksmith job, and it sits alongside your eufy cameras in its own app.

Does eufy sell smart locks in the UK?
Not through its own store. On 31 October 2026:
- eufy's UK store, now on anker.com, listed no smart locks, and its UK smart-lock collection page returned an error
- eufy's lock range, in its Smart Display E10 compatibility sheet, includes the Smart Lock C210, C220, C33 and E30 and the Video Smart Lock E330 and S330
- eufy's lock pages cite BHMA, the North American standard, and JACK found no eufy lock listed as meeting BS 3621 or TS 007
eufy says its locks suit wooden doors, not glass or sliding ones. If you already own one, the door check below decides whether it can go on.
Why don't eufy locks fit most London front doors?
eufy's one set of door requirements describes a North American deadbolt door:
- A door 35–55 mm thick, with a 60 or 70 mm backset from the edge to the centre of the lock
- A 38–54 mm cross-bore through the face of the door, plus a 25 mm hole into the edge
- uPVC and composite doors use a multipoint lock: a steel strip in the edge with hooks or bolts, thrown by the handle and locked by a euro cylinder. There is no cross-bore, and cutting one weakens the door and may affect its warranty
- Timber doors usually have a rim nightlatch and a BS 3621 five-lever mortice deadlock; a eufy lock means drilling a cross-bore and still leaves the deadlock question for your insurer
What will your home insurer expect from a front-door lock?
Wordings differ, so check your schedule, but these conditions come up most:
- Timber exit doors: a BS 3621 lock, typically a five-lever mortice deadlock
- uPVC and composite: a key-operated multipoint with at least three locking points; one UK policy wording adds a cylinder of at least five pins
- Many conditions say 'key-operated', so a keyless lock may not match them, while a retrofit that turns your existing key cylinder from inside is more likely to
- Euro cylinders can carry a TS 007 star rating against snapping, drilling and picking, and three stars in total is the usual target
- In that same insurer's set of wordings, one version removes theft cover and others raise the theft excess if the required locks are not in full use whenever the home is left empty
The pro checks your door against your own policy's lock clause before quoting.
Can a smart lock go on a flat's fire door?
Where a flat's front door opens onto a common corridor or stair, it is normally an FD30S fire door, and its lock is one of the parts that make it resist fire:
- The door must close itself and latch, and the lock, latch and hinges are fire-critical
- New holes or ironmongery are allowed only within what the door's fire test evidence permits, and a 38–54 mm cross-bore through the leaf is unlikely to be covered
- In blocks whose top storey is more than 11 m up, the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 have the Responsible Person use best endeavours to check every flat entrance door at least once a year, and GOV.UK's guidance says a resident should change their front door only with the Responsible Person's knowledge and agreement
- A smart lock must never stop someone inside getting out in a fire
A JACK pro fits a smart lock on a flat fire door only if it keeps the existing fire-rated lock, adds no holes through the leaf and has the managing agent's written agreement. Otherwise the pro says no, or points you to a fire-door specialist.
What does a JACK locksmith fit instead?
The same convenience, on a lock built for your door:
- uPVC and composite: a smart lock or retrofit made for euro-cylinder multipoint doors, matched to your handle, since lift-to-lock and slam-shut multipoints behave differently
- Timber: a smart lock designed for UK timber doors, with the BS 3621 mortice deadlock kept for your insurer
- Where the cylinder has no anti-snap rating, a TS 007 three-star cylinder on the same visit
- Set-up in the lock's own app, codes or keys for the household, and a test that the key still locks the door
The lock runs in its maker's app, not the eufy Security app, so your eufy cameras and doorbell carry on separately alongside it. The lock is bought by you, since JACK does not stock or sell locks; a cylinder or fitting the door needs is agreed and added at cost before you book.
The locksmith needs to see the door edge and the cylinder
The door and the lock you choose decide the fixed price, which you see in the JACK app before you book. The service is for London homes only. Send:
- The whole door from outside and inside, so the material and the handle type show
- The door edge with the door open, showing the lock faceplate and any hooks or bolts along it
- The cylinder close up, with any star rating or BS mark visible, and the lock clause from your insurance schedule
- In a rented home, the landlord's agreement; in a flat, whether your door opens onto a common corridor, and the managing agent's reply
Will a eufy smart lock fit your front door?
eufy's published door requirements, set against the front doors found in London homes.
| Your front door | Lock it usually has | A eufy lock on it | What a JACK pro fits instead |
|---|---|---|---|
| uPVC | Multipoint, thrown by the handle and locked by a euro cylinder | No cross-bore to fit, and cutting one weakens the door | A smart lock or cylinder retrofit made for euro-cylinder multipoint doors |
| Composite | Multipoint with a euro cylinder, often lift-to-lock or slam-shut | As for uPVC, and drilling the slab may affect the doorset's warranty | A UK multipoint smart lock or retrofit that suits the handle type |
| Timber house door | A rim nightlatch and a BS 3621 five-lever mortice deadlock | Wood suits it, but it needs a 38–54 mm cross-bore drilled and does not replace the BS 3621 deadlock | A smart lock for UK timber doors, keeping the mortice deadlock |
| Flat entrance fire door (FD30S) | A fire-rated lock and latch on a self-closing door | Not suitable: a cross-bore is unlikely to be within the door's fire test evidence | Only a no-holes retrofit on the existing lock, with the building's written agreement |
| Glass or sliding door | Varies | eufy says its locks are not compatible | Assessed door by door |
eufy publishes one set of door requirements for its smart locks and names no model as an exception, so every eufy lock expects the cross-bore.
How eufy installation is priced
A vetted pro prices your job from the eufy model, photos of where each device goes and what power is there now, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.
The power and the walls move the price more than the device does. A battery doorbell on a brick reveal, or a SoloCam on a fence post, is a smaller job. An S4 Wired doorbell on a new transformer, a HomeBase moved to the middle of the house with a hard drive fitted, a Floodlight Camera E340 in place of an outside light, or four PoE cameras cabled through solid brick and a loft all take longer, and the price reflects that.
The eufy kit is yours to buy, since JACK sells no devices. A stronger transformer, a Chime 2, a wedge, a floodlight's weatherproof box or extra Cat cable is agreed with you and added at cost before you book, and several devices go on one booking for one price. Where parking has to be paid for, that is added at cost and agreed before you book too.
Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, smart home work is typically £45–£95 per hour, and electrical work such as a floodlight camera £55–£110 per hour. For a multi-camera system or a PoE NVR, a full-day booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy a eufy smart lock in the UK?
Not from eufy's UK store, which listed no smart locks on 31 October 2026. If you find one abroad or from another seller, eufy's door requirements still describe North American door preparation, so have your door checked before buying it.
Will a eufy smart lock fit a uPVC door?
Not as made. eufy's locks need a 38–54 mm cross-bore and a 60 or 70 mm backset, while UK uPVC doors use a multipoint lock driven by a euro cylinder, with no cross-bore. A smart lock or retrofit designed for euro-cylinder multipoint doors is the way to get the same features.
Will a eufy smart lock meet my home insurance lock condition?
Probably not, if your policy names BS 3621 or a key-operated multipoint lock. eufy's lock pages cite BHMA, a North American standard, and JACK found no eufy lock listed as meeting BS 3621 or TS 007. Check your policy wording before replacing a lock it relies on.
Can I fit a smart lock on my flat's front door?
Only with care. If your front door opens onto a shared corridor or stair, it is normally an FD30S fire door, and GOV.UK guidance says changes to it should have the Responsible Person's agreement. A JACK pro fits a smart lock there only if it keeps the existing fire-rated lock, adds no holes and has the managing agent's written agreement.
