What Decides the Cost of eufy Installation in London

Updated

eufy has no installation service in the UK, so the price of fitting one is set by whoever does the work. On JACK it is a fixed price, worked out from photos before you book. Here is what a pro weighs, from one battery doorbell to a four-camera NVR system cabled through solid brick.

In short

What you pay for eufy installation in London is set by the work around the devices: the doorbell's power route and any new transformer or chime, where the HomeBase can go, how many cameras go up and how high, whether a Floodlight Camera E340 replaces an outside light, and how long the Ethernet runs are on a PoE NVR system. A vetted JACK pro turns your photos into one fixed price that you see in the app before booking, with hourly hire for smart-home work at typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide. eufy devices are bought by you, not JACK, so that price is for the work plus any accessories agreed at cost.

What moves the price of a eufy doorbell?

The power route sets most of it:

  • A C30, or an E340 or C31 left on battery: fixing at about 1.2 m, a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi check and pairing a chime
  • An E340 wired to the existing bell: the transformer must give 8–24 V and more than 10 VA, or a new one is added
  • A C31 set up for 24/7 recording: a 16–24 V, 30 VA transformer, the old chime bypassed and a plug-in chime added
  • An S4 Wired Video Doorbell, which has no battery mode: many British bell transformers fall short of its 16–24 VAC, so a new transformer is often part of the price

Giving a transformer its own new way in the consumer unit makes it a new circuit: a registered electrician's job, which JACK does not book as part of this one.

What moves the price of a eufy camera system?

For HomeBase and standalone cameras, the time goes on planning as much as on fixing:

  • Siting the HomeBase on Ethernet by the router, with each camera inside eufy's range and wall limits
  • Camera count and height: eufy puts eufyCam S3 Pro cameras 2–3 m up, so a 4-camera kit is four ladder positions to test and fix
  • Sun: on a north-facing wall or under deep eaves, an external solar panel and its cable may need routing; eufy advises the external panel under eaves
  • Storage: fitting a 5 V 2.5-inch SATA drive in a HomeBase S380 and formatting it in the app
  • Walls: solid brick takes longer to drill than timber cladding, and render that has come away from the brick needs longer fixings that reach solid masonry

For first-floor eaves and gable walls, your pro can ask another pro on JACK to help through the Pro2Pro feature.

A PoE NVR system is usually the largest eufy job

On a system such as the NVR Security System S4 Max, every camera is cabled back to the recorder:

  • The S4 Max box holds an 8-port NVR with a 2 TB drive fitted, four PoE cameras and four 18 m Ethernet cables, so longer runs need extra cable
  • Each run goes through the loft, along an outside wall or through solid brick, and its length and route drive the price
  • The recorder itself lives indoors, by a socket, with its own cable to the router, and can show the cameras on a TV over HDMI

PoE cabling is extra-low-voltage work, so nothing needs notifying.

What does a eufy floodlight add?

The Floodlight Camera E340 is a mains fitting, so it books under electrical work (hourly hire there is typically £55–£110 per hour, as a guide):

  • It goes where an outside light is now, on that light's circuit, wired at 100–240 V AC
  • The earth is proved and any dimmer or timer comes off the supply, as eufy's guide asks, along with any separate PIR switch that would cut the camera's power
  • eufy's box has no junction box, so a weatherproof enclosure is added at cost where the old light has none
  • Where the wall has no light and no cable to it, a new circuit may be needed, and that goes to a registered electrician, as JACK does not book it

The circuit is then tested and written up on a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate.

Which other details change a eufy price?

These apply to any eufy job:

  • Taking down an old system first, or moving older eufyCams onto a new HomeBase
  • Flats and listed buildings: written consent from the freeholder, landlord or council before any drilling
  • Getting in and up: stairs, a lift or a locked side passage. Paid parking is added at cost and agreed before you book
  • Parts: a transformer, chime, wedge, drive, microSD card, extra Ethernet cable or junction box, all agreed and added at cost before you book

eufy kit and devices from other makers can go on the same booking, under one fixed price.

One set of photos sets one fixed price for the whole eufy job

All JACK pros are vetted, and insured pros are shown first. The price is fixed before anyone arrives, so the photos have to show the whole job. Pros on JACK work across London, and only in London. Send:

  • A photo of each mounting spot taken from a few steps back, so the height and the ground below show
  • Doorbell jobs: the front door and frame, the label on the bell transformer, and the chime
  • For HomeBase cameras, where the router is; for an NVR, where the recorder will live and the route each cable could take
  • The eufy models, from the box or the order

How eufy installation is priced

A vetted pro prices your job from the eufy model, photos of where each device goes and what power is there now, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.

The power and the walls move the price more than the device does. A battery doorbell on a brick reveal, or a SoloCam on a fence post, is a smaller job. An S4 Wired doorbell on a new transformer, a HomeBase moved to the middle of the house with a hard drive fitted, a Floodlight Camera E340 in place of an outside light, or four PoE cameras cabled through solid brick and a loft all take longer, and the price reflects that.

The eufy kit is yours to buy, since JACK sells no devices. A stronger transformer, a Chime 2, a wedge, a floodlight's weatherproof box or extra Cat cable is agreed with you and added at cost before you book, and several devices go on one booking for one price. Where parking has to be paid for, that is added at cost and agreed before you book too.

Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, smart home work is typically £45–£95 per hour, and electrical work such as a floodlight camera £55–£110 per hour. For a multi-camera system or a PoE NVR, a full-day booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to install eufy cameras in London?

There is no list price: a JACK pro works out a fixed price for your cameras and your house from photos, and it is shown in the JACK app before you book. The number of cameras, their height, where the HomeBase can go and, on an NVR system, the length of each cable run are what move it. Hourly hire for smart-home work, as a guide, is typically £45–£95 per hour.

Does eufy offer installation in the UK?

No. There is no eufy installation service in the UK: eufy's UK business page recruits installers and resellers rather than booking jobs. A JACK pro fits eufy devices you have bought, for a fixed price before you book.

Is the eufy device included in the installation price?

No. The device is yours to buy, from any shop, since JACK does not sell eufy. Extras such as a transformer, a Chime 2 or a drive are agreed with you and added at cost before you book.

Can I book a pro for a whole day for a large eufy system?

Yes. A full-day booking gives you one pro on site for up to 8 hours at a flat day rate agreed in the app before you book, which suits a whole-house system or a eufy installation alongside other jobs.
