eufy HomeBase Setup in London: S380, Mini and Pro S1
Updated
A eufy HomeBase is where most of your video lives, and where it sits decides whether the cameras on the far side of a solid-brick house stay online. A vetted JACK pro sites it, fits a hard drive if you have one, updates the firmware and pairs every camera and doorbell, for a fixed price before you book.
In short
A vetted Jack All Trades (JACK) pro in London sets up eufy's HomeBase S380 (HomeBase 3), HomeBase Mini and HomeBase Professional S1: connected to your router, placed in the open on a shelf rather than a wall (1–1.5 m high and away from the wall for the S380, as eufy advises), updated, and paired with each device. The S380 takes a 5 V 2.5-inch SATA drive of up to 16 TB and the Pro S1 a 3.5-inch drive of up to 16 TB, while the Mini uses a microSD card. eufy says the signal is best within 3–5 m of a camera and likely too weak beyond 15 m, with thick brick cutting it down.
Send the HomeBase model, a photo of your router and the space around it, a list or rough plan of where each camera and doorbell is, and the make and size of any hard drive you have bought. Say if the router is at the back of the house and the cameras are at the front.

Why HomeBase siting matters in solid-brick London homes
eufy's signal guidance is clear, and a Victorian or Edwardian terrace tests every line of it:
- Best within 3–5 m of each camera; between 5 and 15 m, no more than two walls in the way; beyond 15 m, eufy says the signal is likely too weak for a direct link
- Thick brick of 240 mm, solid wood doors and metal rolling doors weaken it, while 240 mm of concrete, steel doors and steel beams block it; the solid brick walls of an older terrace, about 225 mm thick, are close to that brick figure
- On a table or shelf 1–1.5 m off the floor, as far from the wall as you can, and in the open, because the S380 has a cooling fan and needs air around it
- Not on the wall: eufy says the HomeBase Mini should not be wall-mounted and belongs on a flat shelf between the router and the cameras
- When the router sits at the back of a long terrace and the doorbell is at the front, the HomeBase can move to the middle of the house on a longer network cable, or a mesh node or 2.4 GHz extender goes about halfway, as eufy suggests
Ethernet first, then Wi-Fi where the S380 allows it
The network connection is the first thing the pro sets up:
- eufy's set-up guide says the HomeBase 3 must connect to the router by Ethernet during set-up; in the S3 Pro kits, a 12 V, 2 A adapter and a network cable come in the box
- From firmware v3.1.5.1 the S380 can move to Wi-Fi, under Settings, General, About Device, Connection, Wi-Fi Setup; eufy's UK product page still says Ethernet only, from an older note
- HomeBase Mini: eufy recommends a cable to the router, and it needs a 5 V, 2 A adapter, since a 5 V, 1 A one is not enough
- HomeBase Pro S1: its 4G backup and 24-hour built-in battery keep it going through a broadband or power cut; eufy includes 400 MB of data on activation, after which the data is paid for or the SIM is suspended
- Firmware: once it is online, the pro updates the HomeBase before pairing anything, because several current eufy devices will not connect, or lose features, on an older version
Which hard drive does a eufy HomeBase take?
Local storage is why most people choose a HomeBase, and the drive has to match the hub:
- HomeBase S380: a 5 V 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD, the laptop size, up to 16 TB; eufy says 12 V drives are not supported
- HomeBase Pro S1: a 3.5-inch SATA drive up to 16 TB, with eufy suggesting surveillance-grade drives; a 2.5-inch SSD needs an adapter bracket
- HomeBase Mini and HomeBase 2: no drive bay, so the Mini's microSD card is the way to add space
- If the S380 does not see a new drive, eufy says to wait about two minutes and format it in the app; an old or overheating drive can also be the cause
You buy the drive; the pro fits it, formats it in the eufy app and checks that 24/7 recording or event clips are landing on it. The S380 can also back up to a USB drive.

Which eufy devices work with which HomeBase?
Compatibility and firmware gates eufy publishes for current and common older devices. eufy's S380 page says it works with everything except wired doorbells, but that line predates the S4 Wired, which does pair with it.
| eufy device | Works with | Firmware or limit eufy names |
|---|---|---|
| eufyCam S3 Pro | HomeBase S380 only | HomeBase 2 not supported |
| eufyCam S4 | No hub needed; S380 adds storage and recognition | S380 V3.7.2.8 or later for 24/7 and Snapshot; not HomeBase 2, Mini or NVR |
| eufyCam C37 | HomeBase Mini, S380, or Pro S1 for the 4K version | Mini V4.0.5.6 or S380 V3.7.8.4 or later; not HomeBase 2 |
| eufyCam C35 | HomeBase Mini, the hub in its kit | Not HomeBase 2 |
| Video Doorbell E340, SoloCam S340, Floodlight Camera E340, Indoor Cam S350 | No hub needed; S380 optional, and the E340 doorbell also pairs with HomeBase 2 | S380 V3.3.2.6 or later |
| S4 3K Wired Video Doorbell | HomeBase S380, HomeBase Mini, Pro S1 or a eufy NVR | Records to its own 4 GB as well |
| Window Camera E10 and TrackLight Cam S1 | HomeBase S380, Mini or Pro S1 | Not HomeBase 2 |
| 4G LTE Cam S330 | HomeBase S380 | Wi-Fi mode only |
| Floodlight Cam 2K (T8422, T8424) | HomeBase S380, for storage | No BionicMind recognition |
| Older wired doorbells (T8200 to T8203) and Floodlight Cam 1080p (T8420) | Not compatible with HomeBase S380 | The wired doorbells keep video on the doorbell; the T8420X floodlight version can store on an S380 |
| eufyCam 2, 2C, 2 Pro and 2C Pro | HomeBase 2, and later HomeBase 3 | Check the HomeBase firmware before moving them |
How eufy installation is priced
A vetted pro prices your job from the eufy model, photos of where each device goes and what power is there now, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.
The power and the walls move the price more than the device does. A battery doorbell on a brick reveal, or a SoloCam on a fence post, is a smaller job. An S4 Wired doorbell on a new transformer, a HomeBase moved to the middle of the house with a hard drive fitted, a Floodlight Camera E340 in place of an outside light, or four PoE cameras cabled through solid brick and a loft all take longer, and the price reflects that.
The eufy kit is yours to buy, since JACK sells no devices. A stronger transformer, a Chime 2, a wedge, a floodlight's weatherproof box or extra Cat cable is agreed with you and added at cost before you book, and several devices go on one booking for one price. Where parking has to be paid for, that is added at cost and agreed before you book too.
Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, smart home work is typically £45–£95 per hour, and electrical work such as a floodlight camera £55–£110 per hour. For a multi-camera system or a PoE NVR, a full-day booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
How it works
Step 1
Send the kit and the spots
Name the eufy model or kit (the T-code on the box helps) and add photos of each wall, door or light it is going on, plus the transformer label and chime for a wired doorbell and a photo of your router.
Step 2
See the price, pick a time
A vetted pro prices the job from what you sent, with any transformer, chime, junction box or cable listed at cost. Book when you are happy with it; evenings and weekends are available when pros have them.
Step 3
Fitted, paired and handed over
The pro updates the HomeBase, pairs each device, fixes it at the right height, sets motion and privacy zones and shows you round the eufy app. You follow it all in the JACK app.
Frequently asked questions
Can the HomeBase 3 work without an Ethernet cable?
After set-up, yes, on firmware v3.1.5.1 or later. Set-up itself is done on a cable, and wired stays the steadier choice wherever a router port is close by.
What hard drive should I buy for a HomeBase S380?
A 5 V 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD of up to 16 TB; 3.5-inch desktop drives need 12 V and will not work. The HomeBase Pro S1 is the opposite, taking a 3.5-inch drive.
Why does my HomeBase Mini keep dropping offline?
Check the adapter first: eufy says it needs 5 V at 2 A, so a 1 A phone charger is not enough. Then make sure it sits on a shelf, not the wall, with a cable to the router.
Do I need a new HomeBase for new eufy cameras?
Sometimes. The eufyCam S3 Pro, S4, C35 and C37 do not support HomeBase 2, so an older HomeBase 2 system needs an S380 or a Mini for them, or no hub at all in the S4's case. The pro checks your hub and its firmware against each new device before you buy anything.
Can you set up eufy alarm sensors on my HomeBase?
Yes. Entry and motion sensors, the keypad and the siren pair with a HomeBase, and eufy's guide puts the Motion Sensor E20 1.8–2.3 m up, angled away from doors, heaters and windows. eufy offers no professional monitoring on its UK site, so the alarm alerts you in the app and nobody is sent out. Police response needs an alarm with a police reference number (URN), fitted and monitored by a company inspected by NSI or SSAIB, and ProtectUK says police will not attend an audible-only alarm without other evidence of a crime.
How much does eufy HomeBase setup cost in London?
It is a fixed price, set from your HomeBase model, the number of devices to pair and whether a drive goes in, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Moving the hub to a better spot on a longer network cable is priced the same way.
