eufy Floodlight Camera Installation in London
Updated
The Floodlight Camera E340 is the only floodlight camera on sale on eufy's UK store, and unlike eufy's battery and solar cameras it is wired into the mains. In place of an outside light you already have, on the same circuit, it is a job for a JACK pro who does electrical work, once the earth, switch and circuit are checked, for a fixed price before you book.
In short
A vetted Jack All Trades (JACK) pro in London who does electrical work can fit the eufy Floodlight Camera E340 in place of an existing outside light: it is hardwired to the mains at 100–240 V AC, and wiring it to the old light's circuit is not notifiable under Part P in England. The pro checks for a working earth first and leaves a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. eufy itself says that outside North America installation and wiring 'must be performed by a licensed electrician', and a new circuit needs a registered electrician, which JACK does not book as part of the job.
Send a photo of the outside light you want to replace, one of the switch that controls it indoors, one of your consumer unit with the cover closed, and say roughly how high the light is. If there is no outside light where you want the floodlight, say so, because that changes the job.

The Floodlight Camera E340 is the only floodlight camera on sale on eufy's UK store
eufy's UK floodlight collection lists the E340 and marks the E30 as sold out. The E340 runs on mains power only, AC 100–240 V, and its USB socket is just for setting it up indoors, so there is no battery or solar version to fall back on. Its full specification, and how the pro fits it step by step, are on the Floodlight Camera E340 guide above.
Why eufy says 'licensed electrician', and what the law in England says
eufy's UK product page puts it in its own words: 'If you are outside of North America, installation and wiring must be performed by a licensed electrician.' Here is how that sits with the rules in England:
- The UK has no electrician's licence. What English law controls is notifiable work under Part P: a new circuit, a new or replacement consumer unit, or work near a bath or shower
- Swapping an existing outside light for a floodlight camera on the same circuit is a replacement, and outdoor additions to existing circuits have not been notifiable since 6 April 2013, so a competent person may do it, to BS 7671
- eufy's line is the maker's own condition and is stricter than the law. If you want to follow it to the letter, an electrician registered with a competent person scheme can do the wiring, and a JACK pro can set up the camera and app afterwards
- A new circuit from the consumer unit to feed the floodlight is notifiable: that needs a registered electrician, and JACK does not book it as part of the job
JACK pros who take floodlight jobs do electrical work, and they leave a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate for the circuit they altered. In a rented home, give the landlord a copy.
What the pro checks before the old light comes down
These decide whether the E340 can go where your light is now:
- A working earth at the light: eufy's guide says to 'properly ground' the fixture, and some older London lighting circuits have no earth conductor at all, which rules a floodlight out until one is run
- No dimmer or timer on the feed: eufy's guide says 'do not use a dimmer switch or timer for this product', so an old security light's timer or a dimmer comes out of the circuit
- The switch indoors: the camera needs power all the time, so a wall switch is left on, or the pro arranges a permanent feed
- RCD protection on the lighting circuit, and whether that circuit is in good enough condition to work on
- The wall at about 2.44 m, the height eufy recommends for up to 12 m of motion detection, and whether a ladder can stand safely below it
- Wi-Fi at the wall: the E340 is dual-band, so it can use 5 GHz where that reaches, and 2.4 GHz usually gets through brick where 5 GHz does not
Older eufy floodlights JACK pros still fit and move
If yours came before the E340, these are the ones that come up:
- Floodlight Camera E30 (T8426): the same mains supply, junction-box fixing, 2,000 lumens and 24/7 recording as the E340, now sold out on eufy's UK store
- Floodlight Cam 2 Pro (T8423), whose accessories eufy's UK store now lists under Floodlight Cam S330: hardwired at 110–240 V, 3,000 lumens, 2.4 GHz only and mounted no higher than 3 m; EU packs include a junction box, and where there is no junction box to fit it to, eufy 'highly recommends' a qualified electrician
- Floodlight Cam 2K (T8422 and T8424): a HomeBase 3 stores their video but cannot run its BionicMind recognition on them
- Floodlight Cam 1080p (T8420): eufy lists it as not compatible with HomeBase 3, though the T8420X version can store video on one
Moving an older floodlight to a new house, or swapping one for an E340, follows the same rules: the same circuit, a working earth and no dimmer or timer.
Older eufy systems JACK pros still set up and moveWhat if there is no outside light where you want the floodlight?
Then the question is where the power comes from:
- A spur from an existing circuit, away from a bathroom, is not notifiable in England; the pro will tell you whether your circuit can take it and what the cable route involves
- A new circuit from the consumer unit is notifiable: it needs a registered electrician, and JACK does not book it as part of a floodlight job
- Or choose a camera that needs no mains: the S4 4K Solar Wall Light Camera and the Solar Wall Light Cam S120 run on battery and solar
Who can do your eufy floodlight job?
England, in a house or flat. Notifiable means building control must be told: through a registered electrician's scheme, or before work starts by building notice or a registered third-party certifier.
| Floodlight job | Notifiable under Part P? | Can a JACK pro do it? | Paperwork to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| E340 in place of an existing outside light, on the same circuit, with a working earth | No: it is a replacement | Yes, a pro who does electrical work | Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate |
| Existing light with no earth at the fitting | No, but a floodlight cannot go on until there is an earth | Only once an earth is in place, priced as extra work | Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate |
| New supply from a spur off an existing circuit | No, outside a bathroom | Yes, if the circuit can take it | Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate |
| New circuit from the consumer unit | Yes | No, and JACK does not book it | From the registered electrician: an Electrical Installation Certificate, plus a Building Regulations compliance certificate |

How eufy installation is priced
A vetted pro prices your job from the eufy model, photos of where each device goes and what power is there now, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.
The power and the walls move the price more than the device does. A battery doorbell on a brick reveal, or a SoloCam on a fence post, is a smaller job. An S4 Wired doorbell on a new transformer, a HomeBase moved to the middle of the house with a hard drive fitted, a Floodlight Camera E340 in place of an outside light, or four PoE cameras cabled through solid brick and a loft all take longer, and the price reflects that.
The eufy kit is yours to buy, since JACK sells no devices. A stronger transformer, a Chime 2, a wedge, a floodlight's weatherproof box or extra Cat cable is agreed with you and added at cost before you book, and several devices go on one booking for one price. Where parking has to be paid for, that is added at cost and agreed before you book too.
Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, smart home work is typically £45–£95 per hour, and electrical work such as a floodlight camera £55–£110 per hour. For a multi-camera system or a PoE NVR, a full-day booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
How it works
Step 1
Send the kit and the spots
Name the eufy model or kit (the T-code on the box helps) and add photos of each wall, door or light it is going on, plus the transformer label and chime for a wired doorbell and a photo of your router.
Step 2
See the price, pick a time
A vetted pro prices the job from what you sent, with any transformer, chime, junction box or cable listed at cost. Book when you are happy with it; evenings and weekends are available when pros have them.
Step 3
Fitted, paired and handed over
The pro updates the HomeBase, pairs each device, fixes it at the right height, sets motion and privacy zones and shows you round the eufy app. You follow it all in the JACK app.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an electrician to install a eufy floodlight camera in London?
Not by law, if it replaces an existing outside light on the same circuit: that is not notifiable in England, and a competent pro can do it and leave a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. eufy's own instruction is stricter, asking for a 'licensed electrician' outside North America, and a brand-new circuit is a registered electrician's job, which JACK does not book.
Can the E340 go where my old security light is?
Usually, yes. The pro checks that the fitting has an earth, that no timer or dimmer feeds it, and that the wall at that height takes the fixings, then wires the E340 to the same cable. An old light's built-in sensor and timer come down with it.
How high should a eufy floodlight camera be?
eufy recommends 2.44 m, for up to 12 m of motion detection. Under a low eave it may sit a little lower, with the motion zones adjusted to suit.
Does the eufy Floodlight Camera E340 need a HomeBase?
No. By eufy's figure, a 128 GB microSD card, the largest it takes, holds about six days of 24/7 video at top quality, and a HomeBase S380 (firmware V3.3.2.6 or later) with a hard drive fitted can keep more.
Is a junction box included with the E340?
No. eufy's user guide lists no junction box in the box, and its 'UL-listed junction box' wording is North American. If the old light's connections need a weatherproof enclosure, it is agreed and added at cost before you book.
How much does eufy floodlight installation cost in London?
It is a fixed price, set by a pro who does electrical work from photos of the old light, the switch and your consumer unit, and shown in the JACK app before you book. If you would rather pay for time, electrical work is typically £55–£110 per hour as a guide.
