eufy Video Doorbell Installation in London
Updated
Most eufy doorbells run on a battery that bell wire can top up; the new S4 is wired only. In a London home the job turns on what you cannot see from the street: the transformer behind the bell and the chime in the hall. A vetted JACK pro reads both from your photos and fits the doorbell for a fixed price you see before you book.
In short
A vetted Jack All Trades (JACK) pro in London fits the eufy doorbell you have bought: the E340, C31 and S330 run on a battery that existing bell wire can keep charged, the C30 is battery only, and the S4 Wired needs bell wiring at 16–24 VAC and 10 VA or more. Many British bell transformers give only about 8 V and 8 VA, below the more than 10 VA eufy asks for even to charge an E340, so the pro often fits a stronger one. Where the old chime has to be bypassed, as for the C31's 24/7 mode on a 16–24 V, 30 VA supply, a plug-in eufy chime takes over.
Send the doorbell model from the box or your order, a photo of the door and frame from outside, the transformer label if you can find it, the chime in the hall with its cover on, and the socket nearest the inside of the front door. In a flat, add a photo of the entry-phone handset by your door and say whether the front door opens onto a shared corridor.

Video Doorbell E340 installation
The dual-camera E340 (T8214): a removable battery pack or bell wiring, and wired it can ring your existing chime.
S4 Wired Video Doorbell installation
eufy's 2026 wired-only S4: 16–24 VAC at 10 VA or more, Chime 2 in the box, 24/7 recording to its own storage.
Video Doorbell C31 installation
The C31 (T8223): battery or bell wiring, and 24/7 with pre-roll once it has 16–24 V at 30 VA and the old chime is bypassed.
Video Doorbell C30 installation
The battery-only C30 (T8224): no wiring, no old chime, so it rings a Chime 2, MiniBase Chime, HomeBase or smart speaker.
Video Doorbell S330 installation
The battery dual-cam S330 (T8213) and its HomeBase 2; not the older wired S330 Dual (T8203) that shares the name.
Which eufy doorbell do you have?
The five current models have their own guides above. Two other groups are still on London doors:
- S220 and C210: eufy's UK blog of 26 October 2026 says the C210 has left its store, while firmware and app support carry on
- Older wired doorbells such as the 2K Wired and 2K Pro Wired, which need 16–24 VAC at 30 VA and keep their video on the doorbell
The T-code on the back of the doorbell or on its box settles it: the E340 is T8214, the C31 T8223, the C30 T8224 and the S330 battery doorbell T8213, while T8200 to T8203 are the older wired models.
Older eufy systems JACK pros still set up and moveWhere is the bell transformer, and is it strong enough?
eufy's UK and EU wiring article says bell transformers here usually give 8, 12 or 24 V, and that its wired doorbells belong on the 24 V terminals. Voltage is only half of it: a multi-tap unit has one VA rating shared by all its terminals, so the 24 V terminal of a common 8 VA unit still gives only about 8 VA, well short of the 30 VA the C31's 24/7 mode and the older wired doorbells need. In London homes the transformer turns up in one of these places:
- On the rail inside the consumer unit, beside the breakers: if it is too weak, a stronger one goes in its place on the same supply
- Inside a mains-powered chime, where 230 V comes into the chime box: changing it is mains work, and if the chime is being bypassed a new transformer takes over the same feed
- In its own small box, often near the meter or under the stairs
- Nowhere: a battery or plug-in chime means there is no transformer, so the doorbell runs on its battery or a new supply is added
A stronger transformer on the old one's supply, or on a new fused spur from an existing circuit, is not notifiable in England and ends with a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate. JACK treats a transformer on a new way in the consumer unit as a new circuit, which is a registered electrician's job, and does not book it alongside a doorbell.
eufy doorbell transformer and chime in UK homesWill my existing chime still ring?
It depends on the doorbell more than on the chime. The details eufy gives, beyond the table below:
- E340: eufy's UK blog calls it fully compatible with an existing mechanical chime, with the included jumper wire on the 'Trans' and 'Front' terminals in the chime box and the battery left in
- C31: eufy's UK FAQ says the chime 'will need to be bypassed' for 24/7 recording and pre-roll, and the jumpers come in the box
- S330 battery doorbell: mechanical chimes work, digital ones do not
- S4 Wired: eufy's pages do not say, and it ships with a Chime 2, so the pro plans around that
Once the wiring is settled, the chime setting in the eufy app is matched to it, so the doorbell is not trying to drive a chime that is no longer in circuit.
Chime 2 or MiniBase Chime: which plug-in chime suits your doorbell?
Where the old chime is bypassed, or there never was one, a plug-in eufy chime goes into a socket indoors:
- Chime 2, listed on eufy's UK store as the Simple Chime: Wi-Fi on 2.4 and 5 GHz, ten tones and up to 80 dB; it does not ring for motion, and only the C30, C31 and E340 can reach it on a different network from the doorbell
- Chime 2 needs eufy app 5.2.10 or later, plus HomeBase S380 3.7.1.6 or HomeBase 2 3.3.9.6h where a HomeBase relays it
- MiniBase Chime: 2.4 GHz, eight tones and a microSD slot of up to 128 GB that stores doorbell video for the E340, C31 and C30
A HomeBase S380 or S280 can also be the indoor chime for those three. In a tall terrace the pro suggests a socket you can hear from the bedrooms, often on the landing rather than in the hall.
What the pro checks at your front door before drilling
Each of these decides where the doorbell goes and how it is powered:
- The Wi-Fi signal at the door, read in the eufy app: the E340, C31 and C30 use 2.4 GHz only, and for the S4 eufy wants 8 Mbps of upload or more, ideally 12
- Height and angle: eufy's guides put the doorbell 1.2 m above the ground, and in a deep porch or brick reveal the 15° wedge turns it clear of side walls, which bounce infrared back and blur night video
- The fixing: brick takes plugs drilled through eufy's positioning card, while a narrow uPVC frame may mean mounting on the wall beside it
- The door: in a block, a flat's front door is usually a fire door, so no cable goes through it without the building's agreement
What power and chime does each eufy doorbell need?
What each doorbell asks for, from eufy's UK product pages and support articles. The label on your transformer and the code on your doorbell are the final word.
| eufy doorbell | Power | Wired supply eufy asks for | Your existing chime | Where video is stored |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S4 3K Wired Video Doorbell | Wired only, with a small backup battery for power cuts | 16–24 VAC, 10 VA or above (eufy's Irish product page) | Not stated by eufy; a Chime 2 comes in the box | 4 GB on the doorbell; also pairs with HomeBase S380, Mini, Pro S1 or a eufy NVR |
| Video Doorbell E340 (T8214) | Removable 6,500 mAh battery, or bell wire to keep it charged | 8–24 V, more than 10 VA, battery left in | Compatible | 8 GB built in; HomeBase optional |
| Video Doorbell C31 (T8223) | Removable 6,500 mAh battery, or hardwired | 16–24 V, 30 VA for 24/7 recording and pre-roll | Listed as compatible, but bypassed for 24/7 | microSD card, or HomeBase 3 |
| Video Doorbell C30 (T8224) | Built-in 5,000 mAh battery | None: there is no wiring option | Not compatible | microSD up to 128 GB, or HomeBase 3 |
| Video Doorbell S330, battery (T8213) | Battery, three to six months a charge; bell wire only extends it | 8–24 V, 10 VA or more (eufy's doorbell comparison) | Mechanical chimes only, not digital | 16 GB on the HomeBase 2 in the box |
| Older wired doorbells (T8200 to T8203) | Wired only | 16–24 VAC, 30 VA or above | Not compatible: eufy says bypass it | On the doorbell; not compatible with HomeBase 3 |
Plug-in eufy chimes: Chime 2 works with the S4, S330, E340, C30 and C31; the MiniBase Chime works with the E340, C31 and C30. Neither works with the older wired doorbells.
How eufy installation is priced
A vetted pro prices your job from the eufy model, photos of where each device goes and what power is there now, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.
The power and the walls move the price more than the device does. A battery doorbell on a brick reveal, or a SoloCam on a fence post, is a smaller job. An S4 Wired doorbell on a new transformer, a HomeBase moved to the middle of the house with a hard drive fitted, a Floodlight Camera E340 in place of an outside light, or four PoE cameras cabled through solid brick and a loft all take longer, and the price reflects that.
The eufy kit is yours to buy, since JACK sells no devices. A stronger transformer, a Chime 2, a wedge, a floodlight's weatherproof box or extra Cat cable is agreed with you and added at cost before you book, and several devices go on one booking for one price. Where parking has to be paid for, that is added at cost and agreed before you book too.
Prefer to pay for time? As a guide, smart home work is typically £45–£95 per hour, and electrical work such as a floodlight camera £55–£110 per hour. For a multi-camera system or a PoE NVR, a full-day booking is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
How it works
Step 1
Send the kit and the spots
Name the eufy model or kit (the T-code on the box helps) and add photos of each wall, door or light it is going on, plus the transformer label and chime for a wired doorbell and a photo of your router.
Step 2
See the price, pick a time
A vetted pro prices the job from what you sent, with any transformer, chime, junction box or cable listed at cost. Book when you are happy with it; evenings and weekends are available when pros have them.
Step 3
Fitted, paired and handed over
The pro updates the HomeBase, pairs each device, fixes it at the right height, sets motion and privacy zones and shows you round the eufy app. You follow it all in the JACK app.
Frequently asked questions
Does a eufy doorbell work with my existing chime?
Some do: the E340 can ring a mechanical chime once wired, and the S330 battery doorbell rings mechanical but not digital chimes. The C30 cannot use one and the C31 needs it bypassed for 24/7 recording, so a plug-in Chime 2 or MiniBase Chime takes over. The older wired doorbells do not work with an existing chime either; they came with their own plug-in chime, and Chime 2 and MiniBase do not support them.
What transformer does a eufy doorbell need in the UK?
It depends on the model: 8–24 V at more than 10 VA to charge an E340, 16–24 VAC at 10 VA or more for the S4 Wired, and 16–24 V at 30 VA for the C31's 24/7 mode and the older wired doorbells. Check the VA on the label as well as the volts, since that is where British bell transformers usually fall short.
Can you fit a eufy doorbell if I have no doorbell wiring?
Yes, with a battery model: the E340, C31, C30 and S330 all run on their battery, and the pro fixes the bracket and pairs a plug-in chime. The S4 Wired is the exception. It needs a 16–24 VAC supply, so with no bell wire the pro adds a transformer fed from a fused spur on an existing circuit and runs new bell cable to the door, all priced before you book.
Can you put a eufy doorbell on a flat's front door?
Often, but check first. In a block, the front door onto the corridor is usually a fire door, and GOV.UK's fire door guidance says changes to it should have the agreement of the building's Responsible Person. A battery doorbell on the wall beside the door, with the freeholder's consent, avoids drilling the door.
How much does eufy doorbell installation cost in London?
You see one fixed price in the JACK app before booking, worked out by a vetted pro from your photos. A battery E340 on a brick reveal is a smaller job than an S4 that needs a new transformer and the chime changed, and any transformer or Chime 2 is added at cost.
