eufy Video Doorbell S330 Installation in London

Updated

This is the battery Video Doorbell S330: doorbell T8213, sold as kit E8213 with a HomeBase 2 and listed on eufy's UK store as Video Doorbell S330, Smart Dual-Cam Doorbell. eufy also used the S330 name for an older wired doorbell, the S330 Video Doorbell Dual (T8203), which is a different product with different power needs, so check the label before you book. A JACK pro in London places the HomeBase, fits the doorbell at 1.2 m and sets up both cameras, at a price fixed before you book.

In short

Yes. A JACK pro in London installs the battery eufy Video Doorbell S330 together with the HomeBase 2 from its box. It runs on its battery, and eufy says it can connect to existing doorbell wires to extend battery life but cannot work as a wired doorbell, so bell wiring is optional and, once connected, can ring a mechanical chime. It uses 2.4 GHz, and its recordings are kept on the HomeBase 2.

How the Video Doorbell S330 is powered and mounted

The S330 is a two-part system. The doorbell carries two cameras, a 2K front camera with a 160° view and a 1080p package camera looking down at the step, and the HomeBase 2 indoors keeps the recordings on 16 GB of storage. The HomeBase's spot matters as much as the doorbell's: it needs your router's internet, and a clear enough link to the front door.

Power is battery first. eufy puts it at three to six months between charges and says the doorbell can take existing bell wires to stretch that, but it will not run as a wired doorbell. eufy's own advice is a battery install where there is no doorbell and a wired one where there is, and its doorbell comparison gives 8–24 V at 10 VA or more for that wired connection.

The name causes mix-ups. eufy also sold a wired S330 Video Doorbell Dual (T8203), which runs from 16–24 VAC at 30 VA, stores to 8 GB in the doorbell and cannot join a HomeBase S380, and Chime 2 lists that wired S330 as incompatible. The model number printed on the device and its box settles which one you have.

What the pro checks first

  • The model number on the doorbell or box: T8213 is this battery doorbell, T8203 is the older wired S330 Dual
  • Whether there are bell wires at the door worth connecting for a top-up, and what the transformer label says
  • Whether your chime is mechanical, as eufy lists mechanical chimes for this doorbell but not digital ones
  • Both camera views from the chosen spot: faces from the front camera, and the step below for parcels

What the pro does on the Video Doorbell S330

  • HomeBase 2 connected to your router and checked for the red light eufy uses to signal no internet
  • Doorbell synced with the HomeBase 2 and the link tested from the doorstep before the bracket goes up
  • Bracket at 1.2 m, the height eufy gives for the S330, with fixings suited to the wall
  • Bell wires connected for a battery top-up where you want one, once the transformer has been read
  • Chime set up: a mechanical chime on the bell wires, a Chime 2, or an Alexa Echo; eufy does not support a Google Home Mini as its chime
  • Package camera aimed at the doormat, and a neighbour's door masked with a privacy zone, where the app offers one, if the 160° view takes it in

How the Video Doorbell S330 installation goes

  1. 1HomeBase 2 plugged in, connected to your router and added to the eufy app
  2. 2Doorbell charged and synced to the HomeBase 2
  3. 3Doorbell held at the door to check the HomeBase link and both views before drilling
  4. 4Bracket fixed at 1.2 m, screwed direct into timber or plugged into brick and render
  5. 5Bell wires connected if you are keeping a wired top-up, with the chime circuit switched off first
  6. 6Doorbell fitted, the chime option set and an Echo linked if you use one as the chime
  7. 7Test press, a parcel-camera check and a recorded clip played back from the HomeBase 2

Before you book: what to send

  • A photo of the label on the doorbell or its box, showing T8213 or T8203
  • Where your router is, and roughly how many walls lie between it and the front door
  • Photos of the door and frame, and of the transformer label if there are bell wires
  • Whether you use an Alexa Echo or a Chime 2 as the chime
  • JACK fits the S330 you bought and does not sell it; if yours turns out to be the wired T8203, it needs 16–24 VAC at 30 VA, and any transformer is agreed with you and added at cost before booking

Where should the S330's HomeBase 2 go in a solid-brick house?

The doorbell is only as dependable as its link to the HomeBase. eufy's camera signal guide sets out the distances and walls the pro works to:

  • Under 5 m, most spots work if no metal is in the way; from 5 to 15 m, no more than two walls in between; beyond 15 m, likely too weak for a direct connection
  • Thick brick, around 240 mm, weakens the signal, and the solid brick walls of a Victorian or Edwardian house, often about 230 mm, are close to that
  • Concrete of the same thickness, steel doors and steel beams can block it altogether
  • A mesh system, or a 2.4 GHz extender roughly halfway, is eufy's suggested fix for a weak link

In a London terrace with the router in the back kitchen, that can mean moving the HomeBase 2 towards the front of the house, or adding a mesh point as eufy suggests.

How far can a eufy camera be from the HomeBase?

Frequently asked questions

Can I hardwire the eufy S330 battery doorbell?

Partly. eufy says the battery S330 can connect to existing doorbell wires to extend battery life but cannot work as a wired doorbell, so the battery stays its main power. For a doorbell that runs from wiring alone, eufy points people to its wired models.

Why does my eufy S330 doorbell keep going offline?

eufy's first check is the HomeBase 2's internet connection: a red light on it means it has none. After that, distance and walls between the HomeBase and the door matter, and the pro can move the HomeBase or suggest a mesh point nearer the front.

Does the S330 battery doorbell work with my existing chime?

With a mechanical one. eufy's doorbell comparison lists mechanical chimes but not digital ones for this doorbell, and the old chime only rings if the doorbell is connected to the bell wires. Chime 2 and an Alexa Echo also work; a Google Home Mini does not.

How much does eufy Video Doorbell S330 installation cost in London?

It is a fixed price for your Video Doorbell S330, worked out by a vetted pro from the model, a photo of where it is going and what power is there now, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Other devices can go on the same booking for one price. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.
