eufy SoloCam S340 Installation in London
Updated
The SoloCam S340 is eufy's model T8170, a standalone camera: it needs no HomeBase, keeps clips on 8 GB inside, and pairs a 3K lens and 8× zoom with 360° of pan and tilt. Its battery is built in and cannot be removed, so where the solar panel goes decides how often the camera ever comes down. A JACK pro in London sites the camera and panel together and gives you a fixed price in the app before booking.
In short
Yes. A Jack All Trades (JACK) pro in London installs the eufy SoloCam S340, a battery camera with a removable solar panel that needs no wiring and no HomeBase. It connects straight to your home Wi-Fi, so the signal and the sun at the spot are checked first, and eufy says it does not record 24/7, even with a HomeBase S380.

How the SoloCam S340 is powered and mounted
Everything the S340 needs lives in the camera: the battery, 8 GB of storage and the Wi-Fi radio that talks to your router. eufy quotes about three months from a full charge, based on 300 seconds of recording a day, and the solar panel is there to stretch that. The battery is sealed in, though, so when the sun cannot keep up, the whole camera has to come off its mount to be charged.
The panel can sit on top of the camera or be cabled to a spot nearby. That helps on London houses where the best view is from a shaded wall and the sun falls on the one beside it. The pro plans both positions before drilling, so neither ends up in the shadow of a gutter, a neighbour's extension or a tree.
At the default sensitivity, eufy gives the detection range as 6–8 m by day and 4–6 m at night, so the camera needs to be within that distance of the gate, path or door it should catch, not at the far end of the garden. A HomeBase S380 on firmware V3.3.2.6 or later adds its storage and eufy's BionicMind recognition, but eufy is clear that the S340 still does not record 24/7.
What the pro checks first
- The Wi-Fi signal at the mounting spot, because the S340 joins your router with no HomeBase to relay it
- Where direct sun falls, and whether the panel goes on the camera or on a sunnier surface close by
- The distance to whatever the camera should catch, measured against eufy's 6–8 m by day and 4–6 m at night
- That the camera stays within safe reach, since its sealed battery means it comes down to be charged
- What 360° of pan and an 8× zoom could bring into view beyond your boundary
What the pro does on the SoloCam S340
- Camera charged and added to the eufy app, then live view checked over your Wi-Fi
- Mount fixed where the camera covers your path or gate inside its detection range
- Solar panel fitted to the camera, or mounted nearby and cabled to it, facing the most sun the wall gets
- Pan and tilt run through their full travel while you watch the live view
- Motion settings and zones set so the camera wakes for your property, not the pavement, which also saves battery
- Echo Show or Chromecast linked if you want to watch it on a screen
How the SoloCam S340 installation goes
- 1Charge level checked and the S340 added to your eufy account
- 2Wi-Fi tested with the camera at the planned spot
- 3Panel position chosen for sun, on the camera or close by
- 4Mount drilled and plugged for brick, render or timber
- 5Camera fitted, panel connected and the view set by panning and tilting in the app
- 6Detection and alerts set with you, then a walk past at the edge of its range
Before you book: what to send
- A photo of the spot from the ground, and one of the view you want covered
- Whether you want the panel on the camera or on a nearby surface
- Roughly how far, in metres, the gate, door or path is from that wall
- Where your router sits, and whether you already use a mesh system
- If you rent, your landlord's consent to the fixings

Full pricing guide for eufy installationFrequently asked questions
Does the SoloCam S340 need a HomeBase?
No. It is a standalone camera with 8 GB of storage inside and its own Wi-Fi connection to your router. A HomeBase S380 on firmware V3.3.2.6 or later is optional and adds its storage and eufy's BionicMind recognition.
Can the SoloCam S340 record 24/7?
No. eufy's FAQ for the S340 says it cannot record 24/7, even when it is connected to a HomeBase 3. If you need continuous recording, a wired system that records around the clock, such as eufy's NVR S4 Max, is the kind to look at.
Can the SoloCam S340 battery be replaced?
No. eufy lists the battery as built in and non-removable, and quotes about three months per charge at 300 seconds of recording a day, with the solar panel topping it up. That is why the pro puts the panel where it gets the most sun and the camera where it can be safely reached.
How much does eufy SoloCam S340 installation cost in London?
It is a fixed price for your SoloCam S340, worked out by a vetted pro from the model, a photo of where it is going and what power is there now, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Other devices can go on the same booking for one price. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.
