tado° Bridge X, Sensor & AC Control Setup in London

Updated

The smaller tado° devices need no wiring, but where they go decides whether the system works. A Bridge X in the wrong corner leaves radiators offline; a sensor above a radiator heats the room to the wrong temperature. A vetted JACK pro places, fixes and pairs them, usually alongside a thermostat or radiator job, for a fixed price before you book.

In short

Yes. A vetted JACK pro in London places and sets up the tado° Bridge X, the V3+ Internet Bridge, the Wireless Temperature Sensor X and the Smart AC Control: mounted where the signal and the reading are right, joined to your Wi-Fi and paired in the app. None of these needs wiring, so they are often added to a bigger tado° booking.

Tell the pro the size of the home, how many floors, where the router is and which rooms have tado° devices, so the bridge goes where every device can reach it.

tado° bridges, sensors and ac control pros install

Each guide covers how the model is powered and mounted, what the pro does and what to send before booking.

What setting these up involves

None of these devices needs wiring; getting the positions right is the job:

  • Bridge X: plugged into a socket central to the devices it serves and joined to your Wi-Fi, never a guest network
  • V3+ Internet Bridge: plugged into a spare router port by cable and powered from the router's USB socket or its own adapter
  • Wireless Temperature Sensor X: on an inside wall or stand where it reads the room, not the radiator below it
  • Smart AC Control: placed where it can see the air conditioner, set up to replace the infrared remote, and joined to Wi-Fi
  • Signal checked in the app from the furthest rooms, with a second Bridge X suggested if a floor drops out

Do you need a Bridge X at all?

tado° X devices talk over Thread, so they need a border router. You may already have one:

  • Wireless Smart Thermostat X kits: the UK receiver is itself a Thread border router, so tado° says no Bridge X is needed
  • Wired thermostat and radiator thermostat starter kits: a Bridge X is in the box
  • Some third-party Thread hubs can do the job too, such as certain Apple HomePod and Apple TV models
  • Bigger homes: tado° recommends one Bridge X per 100 square metres, and a Thread router on each floor or at opposite sides of the home

How tado° installation is priced

A vetted pro prices your job from photos of the boiler, your existing controls and the tado° kit, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.

What is on your wall now decides the job. A wired thermostat swapped for a Smart Thermostat X on the same cable is the simplest. A receiver in place of a heating and hot water programmer, an old wireless thermostat and its receiver to take out of the circuit, or a home split into zones takes longer. A Smart Radiator Thermostat is simple on its own, so a house full of them is priced on the number of radiators and the valves they sit on.

Every device goes on one booking for one price: the thermostat or receiver, a Bridge X if your kit needs one, and radiator thermostats for each room. Other jobs, such as a smart doorbell, can go on the same visit. Where parking has to be paid for, it is added at cost and agreed before you book.

Prefer to pay for the pro's time? Hourly hire works too: as a guide, smart home installation is typically £45–£95 per hour.

How it works

Step 1

Share your boiler and controls

Add photos of the boiler (including the label with its make and model), your current thermostat or programmer, your radiator valves if you bought radiator thermostats, and the tado° kit you have. Say whether you have a hot water cylinder.

Step 2

See the price, pick a slot

A vetted pro prices the job from what you sent and says if any part needs a Gas Safe engineer instead. Book once you are happy with the price; evenings and weekends are available when pros have them.

Step 3

Fitted, tested, handed over

Power isolated, old controls removed or bridged out at the wall, tado° devices fitted and tested, then rooms, zones and the schedule set up in the tado° app with you. You follow it all in the JACK app.

Frequently asked questions

How much does tado° Bridge X and sensor setup cost in London?

It is a fixed price for your job, worked out by a vetted pro from photos of the boiler, your existing controls and the tado° kit, and shown in the JACK app before you book. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home installation is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.

Will my old tado° Internet Bridge work with tado° X?

No. tado° says the V3+ Internet Bridge is not compatible with tado° X. X devices use the Bridge X, the UK Wireless Receiver X or a compatible Thread hub instead.
