tado° Wireless Temperature Sensor X Installation in London
Updated
The tado° Wireless Temperature Sensor X is the room-reading half of a tado° X wireless system: it tells the receiver or the radiator thermostats how warm the room really is. It needs no wiring, but where it goes changes how the home heats. A vetted JACK pro places and pairs sensors in London, usually alongside a bigger tado° job, for a fixed price before you book.
In short
Yes. A vetted JACK pro in London places and pairs the tado° Wireless Temperature Sensor X, first or second generation: on an inside wall or a stand where it reads the room rather than a radiator or the sun, paired to your receiver or Thread border router, and set as the room's reference in the app. It needs no wiring.

How the Wireless Temperature Sensor X is powered and mounted
In the wireless kit the sensor is the thermostat: the receiver switches the boiler on when the sensor's room falls below its target. In a room with radiator thermostats but no wired thermostat, a sensor gives a truer reading than the heads, which sit right beside a hot radiator.
Because it runs on a battery, it can go anywhere in the room: an inside wall about where an old thermostat was, or on tado°'s stand on a shelf. The pro checks the signal from that spot before fixing it.
What the pro checks first
- Which room it should read, and the best spot in that room
- Distance from radiators, direct sun, outside doors and draughts
- Signal to the receiver or the nearest Thread border router
- That the room has no wired tado° thermostat already
What the pro does on the Wireless Temperature Sensor X
- Spot chosen on an inside wall or a shelf, away from radiators, direct sun and draughts
- Signal checked from that spot to the receiver or nearest Thread border router
- Fixed with screws or the adhesive pads, or set on a stand
- Paired, assigned to its room and set as the room's reference device in the app
Before you book: what to send
- Which rooms need a sensor, and whether they have radiator thermostats
- Whether you have the 1st or 2nd generation sensor
- Where the receiver or Bridge X is
How tado° installation is priced

Full pricing guide for tado° installationFrequently asked questions
Can I have a sensor and a wired thermostat in the same room?
tado° allows one reference device per room: either one Wired Smart Thermostat X or one Wireless Temperature Sensor X. Put the second one in another room instead.
Where should the sensor not go?
Not above or beside a radiator, in direct sun, by a door that lets in draughts or on an outside wall. Any of those makes the room read warmer or colder than it is, so the heating comes on at the wrong time.
How much does tado° Wireless Temperature Sensor X installation cost in London?
It is a fixed price for your Wireless Temperature Sensor X, worked out by a vetted pro from the model, a photo of where it is going and what power is there now, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Other devices can go on the same booking for one price. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.
