The tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat X screws onto a radiator valve in place of the old thermostatic head, so each room keeps its own temperature and schedule. How the Smart Radiator Thermostat X is powered and mounted
The head screws on with a nut that suits M30 × 1.5 valve bodies, which covers many UK radiator valves. For Danfoss and M28 valves, and Caleffi and Giacomini bodies, tado° puts six adapters in the box and pin extenders for M28 valves. Some brands, such as Vaillant, Oventrop, Ista and Orkli, need an adapter tado° does not supply.
There is no water work. tado° warns to undo only the old head's nut, never the valve fitting, and the radiator may get hot while no head is fitted. The battery pack comes out for charging, so nothing has to be removed from the valve.

My valve is not one of the six adapters. Can it still take a tado° X head?
Often, yes, with a third-party adapter: tado° names Vaillant 30.5 mm, Oventrop M30 × 1.0, Ista M32 × 1.0 and Orkli M28 × 1.0 valves as needing one. Send a close-up photo of the valve and the pro checks before you book.
Can you fit it on a radiator with an on/off valve?
Not directly. tado° says manual valves have to be swapped for a thermostatic valve body first. That means draining the system, so it is booked separately as plumbing.
How much does tado° Smart Radiator Thermostat X installation cost in London?
