Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro Installation in London
Updated
The Camera Hub G5 Pro comes in two versions: PoE (CH-C03E, or CH-C03D) and Wi-Fi (CH-C07E, or CH-C07D). Both are outdoor cameras that also act as an Aqara Zigbee and Thread hub. A vetted JACK pro in London plans the cable route, fixes the camera to brick, render or timber, sets up recording, keeps its view on your own property and pairs your Aqara devices to it, for a fixed price in the JACK app before you book.
In short
Yes, a vetted JACK pro in London mounts the Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro outside and powers it over one network cable from a PoE switch (PoE version) or from a 5 V 2 A USB-C supply (Wi-Fi version). Neither version needs a new circuit or any mains wiring. The G5 Pro can also be set up as the Aqara hub for your Zigbee and Thread devices.

Device facts come from Aqara's product pages, its UK and EU store, the Aqara UK Shop and Aqara's own Amazon UK listings, linked beside each fact. Aqara often sells one product under two codes and uses EU models in the UK, so check the name and code on your box or order and send it with your request. Last checked 1 November 2026.
How the Camera Hub G5 Pro is powered and mounted
The PoE version takes power and data from one network cable, plugged into a PoE switch to 802.3af, which Aqara's Amazon UK listing says is required and bought separately. On a London terrace, where solid brick between the router and the garden weakens Wi-Fi, that wired link is the steadier choice. The Wi-Fi version runs from a 5 V 2 A USB-C supply instead, so it still needs a cable to an indoor socket, only a thinner one.
Both versions are rated for −30 to +50 °C, record at 2688 × 1520 and carry a 3 W spotlight. There are 8 GB of storage on board; continuous recording goes over RTSP to your own recorder or Home Assistant, and Apple Home users can record through HomeKit Secure Video.
Unlike most outdoor cameras, the G5 Pro is a hub too. It takes up to 80 Aqara Zigbee devices or 40 Thread devices, or 20 of each, and bridges them to Matter. Aqara names it as a hub for the U200 and U600 locks, which suits a camera fixed near the front door, while its Amazon UK listing for the Power Plug H2 UK says the G5 Pro is not currently supported as that plug's hub.
What the pro checks first
- Which version you have, from the code on the box: CH-C03 is PoE, CH-C07 is Wi-Fi
- For PoE, a route for the network cable from the switch to the camera, and somewhere indoors for the switch
- For Wi-Fi, the signal at the mounting point and an indoor socket for the USB-C supply
- What the camera will see: your own garden and door, not a neighbour's windows or a shared path
- Height and position against the permitted-development limits for CCTV, and whether the building is listed
- In a flat, whether the outside wall belongs to the freeholder
What the pro does on the Camera Hub G5 Pro
- Cable hole drilled through brick or render, sleeved and sealed outside, and never through a fire door or its frame
- Bracket fixed with plugs into sound masonry, or screwed straight into timber
- PoE switch connected indoors for the PoE version, or the USB-C supply plugged in for the Wi-Fi one
- Camera aimed, and its detection area set so it watches your property rather than the street
- Added in Aqara Home, with your Zigbee and Thread devices paired to it if it is your hub
- RTSP or HomeKit Secure Video set up if you use either
How the Camera Hub G5 Pro installation goes
- 1Mounting point chosen with you, checking the view and the cable route
- 2Hole drilled and sleeved for the cable, then sealed on the outside
- 3Network cable run to the PoE switch, or the USB-C cable to the supply indoors
- 4Bracket fixed, camera connected and aimed
- 5Camera added in Aqara Home, hub devices paired and recording set
- 6Live view and a motion test checked on your phone before the pro leaves
Before you book: what to send
- Which version you bought, PoE or Wi-Fi
- Photos of where you want the camera, and of the inside wall behind that spot
- Where your router, and any PoE switch, are
- Whether you record to a home system or use HomeKit Secure Video
- In a flat or a rented home, the freeholder's or landlord's agreement to fixing it to the wall
What do the CCTV rules ask of a G5 Pro owner?
If the camera captures anything beyond your boundary, such as the street or next door's garden, UK data protection law applies to you. GOV.UK's domestic CCTV guidance suggests you:
- Decide what the camera really needs to watch, and position it to keep intrusion to a minimum
- Ask whether you need audio at all; in Fairhurst v Woodard, a court found the long-range audio from a neighbour's cameras unlawful
- Let the neighbours know about the camera, or put up a sign saying it records
- Keep recordings secure and no longer than necessary, and use them only for protecting your property
Does the G5 Pro need planning permission?
Normally not. Permitted development for CCTV, known as Class F, has limits the pro checks before drilling:
- It does not cover listed buildings, where the council's consent comes first
- No part of the camera may be less than 2.5 m above the ground, or stick out more than 1 m from the wall
- No more than four cameras on one side of a building and sixteen in all, and none within 10 m of another
- It should be sited, as far as practicable, to keep its effect on the building's appearance small
How is Aqara installation priced in London?
A vetted pro prices your Aqara job from the models and your photos, and the JACK app shows that fixed price before you book.

What is the difference between the Aqara G5 Pro PoE and Wi-Fi?
The PoE version (CH-C03E) takes power and data over one network cable from a PoE switch, at 48 V and 0.27 A to 802.3af. The Wi-Fi version (CH-C07E) runs on a 5 V 2 A USB-C supply and connects over Wi-Fi. Both are 2688 × 1520 outdoor cameras that act as Aqara hubs.
Does the Aqara G5 Pro PoE need a PoE switch?
Yes. Aqara's Amazon UK listing says a PoE switch is required and bought separately. JACK does not sell one, so you buy it, or it is added at cost and agreed before booking.
Can the Aqara G5 Pro be my only Aqara hub?
Yes, if your devices are within its limits and its reach: Aqara's listing gives up to 80 Aqara Zigbee devices, or 40 Thread devices, or 20 of each, and Aqara names it as a hub for its U200 and U600 locks. It does not support the Power Plug H2 UK, according to Aqara's listing for that plug, and a camera on an outside wall can be further from indoor sensors than a central Hub M3, so the pro checks the signal before relying on it.
How much does Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro installation cost in London?
It is a fixed price for your Camera Hub G5 Pro, worked out by a vetted pro from the model, a photo of where it is going and what power is there now, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Other devices can go on the same booking for one price. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.
