tado° Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+ Installation in London

Updated

The tado° Wireless Smart Thermostat Starter Kit V3+ with Hot Water Control is the older tado° wireless kit: a UK receiver that replaces a heating and hot water programmer, a battery sensor and an Internet Bridge at your router. tado°'s UK shop still listed it on 31 October 2026. A vetted JACK pro fits or extends it in London for a fixed price before you book.

In short

Yes. A vetted JACK pro in London fits the tado° Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+ kit: the UK receiver replaces your two-channel programmer on the existing wiring for an S-plan, Y-plan or combi relay system, the Internet Bridge goes on your router, and the sensor goes where it reads the room. The V3+ UK receiver works by relay only, with no OpenTherm.

How the Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+ is powered and mounted

The V3+ receiver does the same job as the newer X receiver, replacing a two-channel programmer so heating and hot water run on their own schedules, but tado°'s UK manual shows relay wiring only. It has no OpenTherm, so a combi runs on or off rather than modulating.

V3+ talks to the internet through the Internet Bridge, which plugs into a spare router port by cable. It cannot be swapped for a Bridge X, and V3+ homes add V3+ radiator thermostats and sensors rather than X devices.

What the pro checks first

  • The programmer it replaces, and how its wires are connected
  • S-plan, Y-plan or combi relay, as the V3+ receiver has no OpenTherm
  • A free Ethernet port on the router for the Internet Bridge
  • The cylinder label: vented or unvented

What the pro does on the Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+

  • Old programmer removed with the heating supply isolated, and the receiver wired on the existing cables
  • Set for S-plan, Y-plan or combi relay to match the system
  • Internet Bridge cabled to a spare router port and powered
  • Sensor placed on an inside wall or stand and paired
  • Heating and hot water tested from the app

Before you book: what to send

  • A photo of the programmer the receiver replaces
  • Whether you have a hot water cylinder, and its label
  • A free Ethernet port on your router, and whether it has a USB socket

Frequently asked questions

Should I fit V3+ or buy tado° X instead?

If you already have V3+ devices, V3+ keeps everything in one Home. tado° X needs a new Home and cannot use V3+ devices, but its UK receiver adds OpenTherm. Neither is wrong; it depends on what you own already.

Can the V3+ receiver go straight onto my boiler?

Where there is an existing programmer, the receiver goes in its place. Wiring at the boiler's own terminals, for a boiler with no external controls, needs a Gas Safe engineer and is not part of a JACK booking.

How much does tado° Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+ installation cost in London?

It is a fixed price for your Wireless Smart Thermostat V3+, worked out by a vetted pro from the model, a photo of where it is going and what power is there now, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Other devices can go on the same booking for one price. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.
