Hive Multizone Kit Installation in London
Updated
Hive's multizone kit, sold as the Hive Thermostat or Thermostat Mini 'Additional Zone', is an extra thermostat and receiver for one more heating zone. It controls a zone your home already has. A vetted JACK pro wires the receiver in place of that zone's old controls and pairs it so the right thermostat runs the right zone, for a fixed price before you book.
In short
Yes. A JACK pro in London fits Hive's multizone kit for an existing heating zone: the extra receiver goes in place of that zone's current controls on the same wiring, set to relay mode, and is paired to its own thermostat and labelled. Hive always recommends professional installation for multizone. New zone valves are plumbing work, booked separately.

How the Multizone Kit is powered and mounted
A zone is a part of the house with its own motorised valve, so it can be heated on its own. Hive's multizone kit adds the controls for one of those zones. If the valve is not there, Hive cannot create the zone, and adding valves is drain-down plumbing.
Hive's guide says to fit every receiver before pairing anything, then pair one zone at a time and label each receiver. Skipping that is how upstairs ends up running the downstairs heating, which is why the pro tests each zone on its own before leaving.
What the pro checks first
- That each zone already has its own motorised valve
- Which zone's controls the new receiver replaces
- Which zone, if any, controls the hot water
What the pro does on the Multizone Kit
- Zone valves and wiring centre identified and photographed
- Each zone's old controls replaced with a Hive receiver on the existing wiring
- All receivers set to standard relay mode
- Zones paired one at a time and every receiver and thermostat labelled
- Each zone heated on its own to prove the right valve opens
Before you book: what to send
- Photos of each zone's current thermostat or programmer
- A photo of the zone valves and the wiring centre
- Which zone should control the hot water, if you have a cylinder
How Hive installation is priced
A vetted pro prices your job from photos of the boiler, your existing controls and the Hive kit, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.
Full pricing guide for Hive installationFrequently asked questions
Can I add a Hive zone without zone valves?
Not as a heating zone. Hive multizone controls zones that are already plumbed in. Hive Radiator Valves give room-by-room control without new valves, as long as the radiators already have thermostatic valves.
Do I need one hub for every zone?
No. One Hive Hub runs every zone; each zone gets its own thermostat and receiver.
How much does Hive Multizone Kit installation cost in London?
It is a fixed price for your Multizone Kit, worked out by a vetted pro from the model, a photo of where it is going and what power is there now, and shown in the JACK app before you book. Other devices can go on the same booking for one price. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire for smart home is typically £45–£95 per hour as a guide.
