West Elm Emmett Bed Assembly in London
The West Elm Emmett Bed is an upholstered frame on wood or metal legs, in double, king and super king. It arrives in a single box of 80–95 kg, and the build is about lining up an upholstered headboard and rails without marking the fabric. A vetted JACK pro builds it in London for a fixed price before you book.

How the Emmett Bed arrives
The Emmett is fully upholstered, so the frame you see is fabric over a timber structure. The box is deep rather than flat (35 cm), which makes it awkward on narrow stairs: it is easier to carry on its edge than flat, and it is a two-person carry.
Because the legs come in wood or metal, check which you ordered before the build. On wooden floors the pro fits glides or felt pads so the legs do not mark the floor when the bed is pushed.
What the pro does on the Emmett Bed
- Built on blankets so the upholstery stays clean, with hands rather than tools touching the fabric
- Headboard and rails lined up so the fabric seams meet, then the bolts tightened
- Legs screwed in straight, and glides fitted on hard floors
- Slats fitted, the built-in leg levellers adjusted, and the frame checked for level and racking
- Packaging flattened and stacked for recycling
Before you book: what to send
- Size and leg type (wood or metal)
- A photo of the bedroom and the route up to it
- Whether the floor is carpet or hard flooring
- Any old bed to take apart first
How West Elm assembly is priced
A vetted pro prices your piece from the product link and a photo of the room, and the JACK app shows you that fixed price before you book.
The design moves the price far more than the size. A side table with screw-in legs is a short job. A solid-wood bed with a slatted base, a six-drawer dresser with runners to align, or a sectional sofa whose pieces clip together is a much longer one. Send the product link or a screenshot of the order so the price is for the piece you bought.
Several pieces from one delivery, such as a bed, two nightstands and a dresser, go on one booking for one price. Pieces from other shops can go on the same visit. Where parking has to be paid for, it is added at cost and agreed before you book.
Prefer to pay for the pro's time? Hourly hire works too: as a guide, furniture assembly is typically £35–£75 per hour. For a big delivery, a full-day handyman booking often suits: a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
How it works
Step 1
Share the piece and the room
Paste the West Elm product link or a screenshot of your order (not delivered yet? the link is enough to price from) and add a photo of the room. Mention stairs, a lift or a tight turn on the landing.
Step 2
See the price, pick a slot
A vetted pro prices the build from what you sent. Book once you are happy with the price, choosing a slot after your delivery date; evenings and weekends are available when pros have them.
Step 3
Built, checked, handed over
Parts are counted first, the piece is built and levelled, drawers and doors adjusted, tall pieces anchored and the packaging flattened for recycling. You follow it all in the JACK app.
Frequently asked questions
Can a West Elm Emmett Bed be taken apart for a move?
Yes. A pro takes off the legs and separates the headboard and rails, bags the bolts per joint and rebuilds it in the new home. The headboard is the largest piece, so measure the new stairs for it.
How much does it cost to have a West Elm Emmett Bed assembled in London?
It is a fixed price for your Emmett Bed, worked out by a vetted pro from the product link and a photo of the room, and shown in the JACK app before you book. If you would rather pay for time, hourly hire is typically £35–£75 per hour as a guide, and a full day is a flat £350–£400 for up to 8 hours on site.
